Health and Safety consultation now open

New documents setting out University expectations for the new health and safety protocol on Authorisation to access restricted locations are now available as part of the broad consultation process.

The documents can be found online and all staff are invited to read these and send any feedback to the Health and Safety Team by 5pm on Tuesday 21 May 2013.

At the University there are many locations where, to keep people healthy and safe, access needs to be restricted to only those who are authorised. This protects untrained or unsupervised people from harm due to the processes, equipment, or substances used there.  Authorisation to access restricted locations can be put in place for health and safety reasons on a permanent basis (e.g. for labs, plant rooms, workshops, roofs, etc.), or a temporary basis (e.g. work involving asbestos, building work etc.).
