LUU named best union in the country for international students
LUU has won an NUS award for Internationalised Students’ Union of the year. The awards recognise Unions that go the ‘extra mile in improving the lives of international students studying in the UK'.

Leeds University Union has championed internationalisation by running a number of programmes and events in collaboration with international students. This included Februarys World Unite Festival, where student societies celebrated cultures from 68 diverse countries. And the Unions Staying in Leeds guide, providing home stays for international students if they remained in the city over Christmas.
NUS commented, LUU has shown real commitment to internationalising their union. There was a huge range of exciting activities in the Union, on campus and across the City; from Chinese New Year celebrations to film screenings.
Equality and Diversity Officer Charlie Hopper said, Its fantastic to be recognised for the support we provide to international students who choose to study in Leeds. Were committed to ensuring that all of our students, regardless of background, have an amazing time when they come here and that all cultures are fully embraced and celebrated.
