Leeds University Union has championed internationalisation by running a number of programmes and events in collaboration with international students. This included February’s World Unite Festival, where student societies celebrated cultures from 68 diverse countries. And the Union’s ‘Staying in Leeds’ guide, providing home stays for international students if they remained in the city over Christmas.

NUS commented, ‘LUU has shown real commitment to ‘internationalising’ their union’. ‘There was a huge range of exciting activities in the Union, on campus and across the City; from Chinese New Year celebrations to film screenings.’

Equality and Diversity Officer Charlie Hopper said, ‘It’s fantastic to be recognised for the support we provide to international students who choose to study in Leeds. We’re committed to ensuring that all of our students, regardless of background, have an amazing time when they come here and that all cultures are fully embraced and celebrated.”
