Postgraduate and Undergraduate experience surveys open for 2013

The University has now launched its Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) 2013 and its 2013 Undergraduate Programme Survey, which are open to all eligible students.

Postgraduate Research Experience Survey

PRES is the only national survey of postgraduate research students’ experience of their programme. 116 institutions across the UK have confirmed their participation, making this the biggest year so far for PRES. The results give us rich information on our students’ experience, and allow us to compare both internally and against the sector and mission groups, so to make changes that better meet student needs in future.

All eligible students have been sent an e-mail with a link to the survey, or alternatively the survey can also be accessed through the Portal. It takes about 15 minutes to complete and as a thank you for their participation students will be entered into a prize draw for one of five £50 cash prizes.

Undergraduate Programme Survey

The survey has been running annually since 2007 and is managed centrally by the Market Research & Insight Team. All eligible undergraduate students (normally non-finalists) are encouraged to take part as the survey helps us to better understand our students’ views on their academic experience.

The Programme Survey is available online at www.haveyoursay.leeds.ac.uk and it should only take five minutes to complete.  Students will have the choice between 100 free printer credits or a £1 donation to charity as a thank you for their participation online. All eligible students have been emailed and the survey is promoted through various means. The survey can also be completed on paper and the support of staff to allow it to be completed in lectures has really helped to boost response rates in the past.

The University takes responses to the Programme Survey, and to all student surveys, very seriously.  Individual Schools and Faculties have compiled action plans in response to student feedback, including the NSS and Programme Survey. The action plans are available to view online.

This survey will stay open until June.

If you would like further information on either survey, please contact Anja Simpson by email.
