Architectural tales of Leeds

This year's Friends of University Art and Music Annual Lecture will be given on Monday 4 March by John Thorp MBE, former Leeds Civic Architect, described as 'the man who shaped modern Leeds'.

John Thorp worked for Leeds City Council in architecture and civic design for over 40 years, and is the author of a book on Leeds, From the Tile to the City.

The theme of the talk will be Modernism in art, architecture and music, and it will include references to the Victoria Hall in Leeds Town Hall where acoustic projects and Sir Michael Sadler's scheme for decorative panels have contributed to the great space.
