Nominations for Undergraduate prizes now open

Staff are asked to consider nominating outstanding and inspirational undergraduates from within their department for the annual Access Programme and Adult Learner Awards, and the Amit Mehta Prize.

The awards are given to individuals who have overcome significant obstacles to enter higher education and have gone on to make the most of the opportunity.

Nominees should meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Someone who has entered the University through a non-traditional route, either through an alternative entry programme e.g. Access to Leeds, or a foundation course such as CFG0 (Access Programme Award
  • Someone who entered the University as a mature learner (Adult Learner Award)
  • A disabled student (Amit Mehta Prize)

They should also be achieving academic excellence.  Note that students can be put forward for more than one award using the one nomination form (available by clicking through to any of the above links).

It is hoped that the awards will offer inspiration to other potential adult learners, access scheme participants or disabled students.

The deadline for nominations to be received is Monday 18 March

The Access Programme and Adult Learner Award winners each receive a cheque for £200, with the Amit Mehta Prize winner gaining £300, and they and their nominators are invited to a prestigious Awards Luncheon in May.
