Mrs Marjorie Westwood
We are very sorry to let members know that Mrs Marjorie Westwood, former Administrator in the Department of Physics, died on 8 December 2012.
Mrs Westwood, who would have been 100 in a few months’ time, joined the Department in 1949, initially on a part-time basis. She was appointed to a series of increasingly responsible clerical and administrative roles, her remit at different times covering staff supervision, financial and examination matters, servicing departmental committees, hospitality and a range of other functions. She was an influential and well-informed presence within the Department. A car enthusiast, her ‘bug-eyed’ Austin Healey Sprite, with its distinctive number plate, was well-known on the campus.
Mrs Westwood retired in 1978.
