Christmas holiday shutdown
During last year’s Christmas shutdown we reduced our carbon dioxide emissions by 72 tonnes, and energy used for heating by 46%. Can we do more this year?

Heating will go off across the University during the evening
of 21 December and will come back on on either 31 December or 1 January,
depending on the building.

Remember that energy use really does all add up, so switch off all office-based equipment, including photocopiers, coffee machines, mobile phone chargers and water boilers as well as the obvious computer and lights! Turning off any equipment, office or laboratory that is not affected by research over the Christmas break will help us meet our carbon reduction targets and reduce cost to the University during the closed period.
