Derek Hurren – Funeral details

It is with great sadness that we let members know that, following a short illness, Mr Derek Hurren, Employability Manager in the Faculty of Engineering, died on 8 December.

Having previously held a number of senior managerial appointments in the Royal Air Force, Derek came to Leeds in November 1999 as Keyworth Institute Operations Manager in the Faculty of Engineering. He contributed substantially to the Institute’s management and business development during his twelve years in post. At the beginning of this year, he took up a new appointment as the Faculty’s Employability Manager.

The Requiem Mass for Derek will take place at 1pm next Tuesday 18 December, at:

St Stephen’s Catholic Church
Castle View Terrace
Skipton
BD23 1NT

(It is recommended that those attending the Requiem Mass use the parking area behind the Church, access to which may be gained from Grassington Road (B6265).)

The Requiem Mass will be followed by burial in Tan Moor Memorial Woodland which is situated north of Skipton on the east side of Grassington Road (B6265), adjacent to the Craven Heifer Country Inn, BD23 3LA.

In Derek’s memory, the flag will be flown at half-mast on the Parkinson Building next Tuesday.

An obituary of Derek is being composed by his colleagues and will be published shortly.
