Vice-Chancellor Professor Michael Arthur

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Arthur, has announced that he will be leaving Leeds next year. He is to take up appointment as President and Provost of University College London.

Professor Arthur will succeed Professor Malcolm Grant who is stepping down in September.

The Pro-Chancellor, Mrs Linda Pollard OBE JP DL, said this afternoon: "Michael Arthur has made a tremendous contribution to the University of Leeds since his appointment as our Vice-Chancellor in 2004. We will be sorry to lose him, but wish him well in one of the top higher education jobs in the UK."

The process for appointing a new Vice-Chancellor will begin immediately with the establishment of an appointing committee (with representatives from both Senate and Council).
