Next meeting of the First Tuesday Club

The University’s Women in Science, Engineering and Technology Network (WiSET) will hold its next First Tuesday Club on Tuesday 4 December with a focus on online networking.

Faced with the demise of Business Link Yorkshire in 2011, trainer Janet Bebb was facing a major personal career challenge. As redundancy loomed she changed and developed the way she used LinkedIn to raise her own profile and search for job opportunities.

She soon realised there were possibilities to be found there and in other online platforms that were simply not available elsewhere - and so was able to cut out some of the competition using this route in her job-search. On request, Janet quickly developed training tools to help colleagues in the same boat and subsequently founded her own company Social Progress Limited, to help others harness the power of online tools for career development and enhancement.

This session will give you an insight into the power of online networking via LinkedIn and other platforms. Janet will take you through her personal journey, explain how others have used online tools and the benefits they have reaped as a result of this activity.

The session will take place:

On:  Tuesday 4 December

At:   1-2pm

In:   Equality Service Annexe Meeting Room, 10th Floor, E C Stoner Building

Hot and cold drinks and cakes will be served.

Add to Outlook calendar.

Please book online and send any questions to Patricia Gray.

The First Tuesday Club meets monthly during term time. It is for all female staff Grade 6 and onwards and for postgraduate research students from all five SET faculties.
