How would you save £40 million?

Leeds City Council wants to hear what the priorities are for those who live and work in the city before it sets its budget for 2013/14, and has invited all members of the University to have a say.

The Council is using the YouChoose budget simulator to give people a feeling for the challenges it faces in balancing its budget.  It starts with the budget over-spent by £40 million; your task is to bring that down to zero, and keep Council Tax rises to 3% or less.

There are helpful instructions on the first pages of YouChoose and the Council has provided lots of information about the services it provides and their costs to help you make choices about your priorities.

YouChoose will be open until 24 January 2013.  We want as many residents as possible to have a go at YouChoose. Please pass the YouChoose link on to anyone you feel may be interested.

Go to the Council's YouChoose site.

More budget information can be found by visiting the Council's 'Financial plans' webpages.
