Health and Safety consultation on fieldwork is now live
All staff are invited to give feedback on the consultation documents for the fieldwork protocol, which will introduce some significant changes.
The changes include the broadening of the definition of fieldwork to include all work- and study-relatedtravel overseas for staff and students.
The current protocol on ‘Risk management of fieldwork’ is being refreshed based on the updated ‘industry standard’ guidance issued by UCEA (the Universities and Colleges Employers Association) and USHA (the Universities Safety and Health Association) . It represents a tightening up of the management of fieldwork and Health and Safety Services are now consulting staff on the content of its core documents.
The documents can be found at www.leeds.ac.uk/safety/consultation/consultation.htm. All staff are invited to read these documents carefully and send any feedback to safety@leeds.ac.uk by 5pm on Wednesday 28 November 2012.
