The politics of James Bond
James Bond matters! As the films enter their 50th year, POLIS is hosting a half-day workshop to discuss the Politics of James Bond (in the broadest sense of the word).
Topics for discussion at the workshop are:
- Clive Jones: Will the Real James Bond(s) please stand up?
- Stuart McAnulla: The World is Not Enough: Apocalyptic Politics in Bond
- Graeme Davies: Threat perception and Bond
- Nick Robinson: Fast Cars, Casinos and Crazy Despots! James Bond as celebration or critique of capitalism?
- Faiz Sheikh: 'License to stereotype: othering in the James Bond film franchise'
Tea and coffee provided (we couldn't stretch to Martini's I am afraid!)
The workshop will take place:
On: Friday 26 October 2012
At: 1.00-4.30pm
In: Chemistry Lecture Theatre D
We hope you will join us for what will be a fun and informative afternoon to discuss and debate the importance of all things Bond.
