Santander event celebrates success of student scholarships

On Tuesday 9 October over 50 students and representatives from both Santander and the University gathered together to celebrate the ongoing success of the Santander Universities partnership.

Now in its fifth year, the partnership supports 12 different projects at Leeds all of which directly benefit our students experience and enhance their employability. The projects range from scholarships to summer schools, enterprise exchanges to research awards and more recently, grants for students to develop their own projects which will benefit wider society.

To demonstrate the growth and development of this partnership, it is worth noting that in the first three years the University was able to allocate funds to 280 students. However in 2012 alone we have been able to extend support to almost 250 students.

As well as key-note speeches from the Vice-Chancellor of the University and Luis Juste, Director of Santander Universities UK, five students also shared their inspiring scholarship experiences at the event.
