Bulbs for bees

The sustainability team are looking for volunteers to plant 3,000 crocuses and snowdrops on campus to improve the habitat for bees and other invertebrates in support of the Biodiversity Action Plan.

crocuses

The plan was produced in 2011 stating ‘the provision of a good variety of flowers throughout the year, in particular in early spring and late summer/autumn’ as one of the main actions to improve the habitat for invertebrates, particularly bees, on campus.  Not only will it improve habitats, but campus is set to look very colourful as spring sets in next year!

The planting will take place:

On:  Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 October

At:   Two sessions will run from 12-1pm and 1-2pm

In:   Front of the Earth and Environment Building

The planting is open to everyone who would like to get involved and has been timed across two sessions so that staff and students can attend in their lunch hour.
