Annual alumni lecture: 'Separating climate science from politics'
John Hirst, Chief Executive of the Met Office, will be leading this year's alumni lecture which will explore the frontier of climate science and its implications.

Climate science is 'science' until its conclusions impact on people's lives and livelihoods, after which important political and economic judgements are made. This will lead to the discussion of where the science stops and the politics starts.
John Hirst graduated from the University in 1973 with a degree in Economics and became Chief Executive of the Met Office in 2007.
The lecture will take place:
On: Saturday 6 October
At: 11.30am-12.30pm
In: Rupert Beckett Lecture Theatre
The lecture is free to attend but booking is essential, which can be done online.
