New name for the School of Humanities

As of Wednesday 1 August, the School of Humanities will officially become a new unitary School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science (PRHS).

The change comes after a University review of the School was completed last year and reflects the three subjects coming together to focus their resources, strategies and structures with the aim of providing inspirational learning and teaching and enhancing collaboration opportunities.

Head of School, Professor Phillip Mellor said: ‘this change reflects the need to work together to provide students with the standard of education they expect of a first-class school in a Russell Group university’ and noted that ‘the concentration of cross-disciplinary expertise within a unified School will enable us to adapt creatively to the major funding bodies strategic themes’.
