Big Butterfly Count

Join the M&S Company Archive this week in supporting the Butterfly Conservation’s Big Butterfly Count by logging your sightings of the pretty insects around campus.

The Count is a nationwide survey aimed at helping to assess the health of our environment by tracking the trends of butterfly populations. It will also assist the Butterfly Conservation in protecting butterflies from extinction and in understanding the effect of climate change on wildlife.

To get involved, pick up a chart from the Archive over on the Western Campus, spend 15 minutes in a green space (preferably when it’s sunny), count some butterflies, then log your sightings.

With all the rain we’ve had this year it's set to be a tough one for butterflies, giving even more importance to the collection of this data. So, find a green spot on a sunny lunch break and help keep them around for years to come.
