Theatre production inspired by China's Shakespeare returns to Stage@Leeds
Come down to the stage@leeds, free of charge, to see the return of The Sun Is Not For Us before it heads off to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The piece of theatre, based on legendary Chinese dramatist Cao Yus four most famous plays, explores love, hatred, adultery, incest, hope, frustration and struggle from a Chinese womens perspective. Blended with movements and dances by a talented group of young British actors, the production helps audiences see Chinese womens long and painful journey into the twentieth century.
Dr Li Ruru (School of Modern Languages and Cultures) devised the hour long piece which will go on to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe and the Shanghai International Contemporary Theatre Festival in November.
Take the chance to see this dynamic and sophisticated production for free, with a dialogue between audiences and the performing team to follow.
