Textiles archive wins conservation prize

The University of Leeds International Textiles Archive (ULITA) has won the Textile Society Conservation Award, and plans to use the Award to rehouse the important research collection of Louisa Pesel.

The Textile Society offers such awards for textile conservation projects within a museum or archive and is designed to support the conservation of a textile related object, or objects, from a collection that will help achieve greater awareness and access for the public.

ULITA will be using its £2,000 prize to rehouse the manuscripts, drawings and photos of Louisa Pesel who was a distinguished scholar, practitioner and educator of the art of embroidery, to make this important research collection more easily accessible.
