Student journalists bring home media award
The university’s student newspaper, Leeds Student, has received an O2 Media Award despite coming up against some tough competition.
The newspaper beat regional giants the Yorkshire Post and the Bradford Telegraph to win the Specialist Publication of the Year award – the first award they have received since being named Guardian Student Newspaper of the Year in 2009.
Previous Editor Lizzie Edmonds said receiving the award was a ‘huge honour’.
