We are sorry to have to let colleagues know of the recent deaths of a serving, and a retired, member of staff.
Mrs Betty Eales
Mrs Eales, who was Secretary to the Adviser to Overseas Students (1957-1974), died on 6 July 2012 aged 103 years.
Her funeral service will be held at 2.10pm on Tuesday 17 July 2012 at Chesterfield Crematorium, Chesterfield Road, Brimington, S43 1AU, and afterwards at The Mill, 236 Station Road, Brimington, S43 1LT.
Mr Derek Pearson
Mr Pearson, who was a Visiting Lecturer in the School of Civil Engineering and the Institute for Transport Studies since 1995, died on 5 July 2012.
The funeral will be held on Thursday 19 July 2012 – details are as follows: 11.00am at St Saviours Church, Manchester Road, Thurlstone, S36 9QS followed by cremation at 11.45am at Grenoside Crematorium, 5 Skew Hill Lane, Grenoside, S35 8RZ. There are to be family flowers only please; donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St Saviours Church, Thurlstone, or Silverwood Scout Campsite new building fund.
The flag will be at half-mast on the Parkinson Building as a mark of respect on the days of the funerals, and obituaries are being prepared.
