The University’s equipment sharing and management system (ESMS) is a searchable database of all research equipment at the university with a value more than £25,000. The database was developed to ensure compliance with Lord Wakeham’s recommendations for the sustainability of the UK research infrastructure base, and with RCUK’s requirement to ensure that institutions are not requesting funding for new equipment where similar under-utilised equipment already exists within their institutions.

The work has been led by Professor Edmund Linfield (Electronic and Electrical Engineering) and Dr Gavin Burnell (Physics and Astronomy), with members of RIS, and during the launch event they will present the functionality of the ESMS and answer any questions.

The launch will take place:

On:   Monday 23 July 2012

At:    12.30-1.30pm

In:    Agilent Lecture Theatre, Electronic and Electrical Engineering

Add to Outlook calendar.

The session will be of particular interest to academics applying for research grants, and to academic and technical contacts for individual items of equipment who can now update information about their equipment through the ESMS.

To register for the launch event please e-mail equipment@leeds.ac.uk providing the following information, by 20 July:
