Roy Boud

We are very sorry to let members know of the death, on 21 May 2012, of Dr Roy Boud, former Cartographer in the Department of Earth Sciences.

Dr Boud was appointed to his post in 1966, having previously worked in a similar capacity for the Ordnance Survey and the Institute of Geological Sciences.  Dr Boud was held in high esteem in his profession, serving as the Chairman of the Society of Cartographers from 1970 to 1975.  He published a number of significant papers on the history on geological maps and mapping; in 1989, he was awarded the British Cartographic Society’s medal and prize for published research.

Dr Boud retired in 1991.

The funeral service has been held but a Memorial Service will be held at 11.30am on Wednesday 27th June at Lidgett Park Methodist Church, LS8 1HG.
