New exhibition at ULITA

The University of Leeds International Textile Archive (ULITA) is staging a new exhibition from 1 June to 20 July 2012, entitled 'Transformation: A Journey through Geometric Form'.

The exhibition, by Rudranil Das and Briony Thomas, explores a range of concepts underlying structure and form in the decorative arts and design.  The interrelated theories of proportion, symmetry, tessellation, fractals and visual perception are considered through the creation of geometric forms.  Techniques of textile wrapping, laser cutting and etching have been used in the construction of the two- and three- dimensional works on display.

The exhibition runs from 1 June to 20 July 2012, Tuesday - Friday, 9.30am to 4.30pm.  The Archive will not be open on bank holidays or when the University is closed.

The University of Leeds International Textiles Archive can be found at: St. Wilfred's Chapel, Maurice Keyworth Building University of Leeds Leeds LS2 9JT (tel. 33919).
