Sing and dance to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic torch

To celebrate the Olympic flame arriving in Leeds at Temple Newsam, volunteers are needed to take part in a mass music and dance moment on 24 June.

Space2, a Leeds based arts organisation, has been commissioned to recruit 1962 enthusiastic Leeds residents to join 50 young dancers to create a mass dance with 2012 people to be performed as part of the City’s dance showcase and Olympic torch celebrations. This will be a once in a lifetime event and your opportunity to be part of the Olympics, whilst showing the nation the best of Leeds.

All abilities and all ages are welcome to sign up to dance and celebrate; this is a great opportunity to take part in the 2012 Olympic celebrations in Leeds.

You’ll receive a guaranteed ticket for the event at Temple Newsam on 24 June once you have completed the Big Dance Workshop. You’ll get a place at the front of the audience, next to the stage (though not on it!) So what are you waiting for?

Perhaps dancing’s not for you, well, you can still take part if you’ve got a ticket as the City has also invited some of its foremost youth and community choirs to perform and we want you to sing along too.  To find our more or learn the songs click here.

For more details of the event, and to register for a dance workshop, see the Leeds Takes Part website.
