Rough Drafts: life drawing workshop with Karen Babayan

In connection with the Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery's new display, 'Rough Draft', a life drawing workshop, led by Karen Babayan, will look at a variety of different approaches and techniques.

Life drawing is the traditional cornerstone of art training and is a meaningful discipline that artists return to again and again.  The Gallery’s new display, ‘Rough Draft’, is a celebration of the drawing process, focusing on the exploratory sketches of painters, sculptors, printmakers and designers from the University Art Collection.

In connection with the display, this life drawing workshop, led by the artist Karen Babayan, looks at a variety of different approaches and techniques. Practicing eye-to-hand coordination and measured drawing, experimenting with mark-making, surface texture and shape to analytical studies of light and shade, and finally to working with colour in drawing.

The workshop will take place:

At:   1.30-4.00pm

In:   Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery
