Take part in the Faces & Voices survey

As research mentor for a contestant on a BBC Radio 4 programme, Dr Paul Carter (School of Modern Languages) has helped produce an experiment to examine if people sound like they look.

The project is part Material World's 'So You Want To Be A Scientist?' competition and Dr Carter is mentoring citizen scientist William Rudling. The aim of the experiment is to find out whether people who have similar faces also have similar voices.

"The experiment is live on the web for anyone to take part in," says Dr Carter. "You just need to match faces you think are similar then have a go at matching a voice to a face.  It only takes a few minutes, and the more people take part the better the quality of our data will be."
