Dr Thomas Wagenknecht

It is with great sadness that we let colleagues know of the death, at the age of thirty-seven, of Dr Thomas Wagenknecht, Lecturer in the School of Mathematics.

Thomas completed his first degree and PhD in Germany and then held postdoctoral positions at the Universities of Bristol and Manchester.  He was appointed to a lectureship at Leeds in October 2007.   Very well-liked by both his students and colleagues, Thomas was establishing a considerable international reputation as a mathematician and had a substantial number of published papers to his name.

Further information will follow shortly.
