Tell tales and half-remembered histories

Have you ever heard the legend of Tolkien’s house or of the buildings where a science fiction series was said to have been filmed? Explore some campus myths at the Burton Gallery on Saturday 12 May.

Perhaps you've wondered about the history of unusual items in the Library's Special Collections, from the Nobel Prize to a blank sheet of paper with an impressive provenance.

In connection with Local History Month, a fun afternoon talk and discussion, led by Liza Giffen and Richard High, will be re-telling and dispelling some of the weirdest and most wonderful campus myths.  They'll explore the history local to the University through archival sources and material from the collections, as well as inviting people to bring along stories and recollections of their own.

The talk will take place:

On:  Saturday 12 May 2012

At:   2-3.30pm

In:   Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery

The event is free and no booking necessary but space is limited seating so please arrive early.
