Title of Associate Professor

From 1 March 2012, new academic appointments and promotions to grade 9 will have the title Associate Professor and from 1 April 2012 current grade 9 academic staff can transfer to the new title.

  • if you are currently a Senior Lecturer or Reader you can either keep your existing title or you have the choice to move to the new Associate Professor title
  • if you are grade 9 and in a research focused role you may be able to transfer to the Associate Professor title by demonstrating that you have made a sufficient contribution to learning and teaching
  • if you are grade 9 and in a teaching focused role you may be able to transfer to the Associate Professor title by demonstrating that you have made a sufficient contribution to research or scholarship.
