Sadler Anniversary Recital at the Clothworkers'

The talented young pianist Orlando Shamlou will give a recital on Saturday 4 February to mark Sir Michael Sadler's contribution to music at Leeds.

The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery's recent exhibition, 'The Sadler Gift ', celebrated the central role of former Vice-Chancellor Sir Michael Sadler in the development of the University Art Collection.  However, his contribution to the other arts at Leeds, particularly music, should not be forgotten.

Through initiating the midday music recitals and helping to establish a fund that would sustain the Saturday concert series, Sadler has created a lasting legacy for the University.

The piano recital will include a repertoire inspired by a programme taken from the Michael Sadler Archive, which is contemporary with Sadler's time at Leeds.   It will take place:

On:  Saturday 4 February 2012

At:   12.45-1.45pm

In:   Clothworkers' Centenary Concert Hall

Refreshments will be provided from 12.30pm, and will also be available after the recital.

The recital is free, and no booking is necessary.
