UPMC project update - January 2012

We are sorry to report that, despite the best efforts of the project team, we have not yet been able to develop a system which meets our complex needs for a Universal Programme and Module Catalogue.

The project has been rescheduled several times to allow more time for our contractor to refine the system, but it is now clear that we will be unable to deliver a system in the short to medium term which gives us the comprehensive functionality we need.

We have therefore taken the decision to pause the project and to review our options, taking into account relevant changes within the University and in the external Quality Assurance and systems development market that have inevitably taken place since the project began two years ago.  We will also be looking at systems development already completed by ISS that could be implemented in the short term to enhance current systems.

A review of business needs is underway and will be included as part of an options paper which will be considered by Information Systems Priorities Group on 20 March, when a decision will be made on the way forward.

More information will follow shortly after that meeting.

If you have any queries about the project please email the Project Manager, Paul Holmes.
