Mr G Neil Glover LLB

Colleagues will be sorry to learn of the death, on 10 January 2012, of Mr Neil Glover, former Dean of the Faculty of Law.

Mr Glover was a graduate of the University of Leeds and, after service in the armed forces and successful practice as a solicitor in Leeds, returned to his alma mater as a full-time lecturer in 1966.  He quickly became a lynchpin of the department: a lucid teacher, trusted mentor and knowledgeable colleague. Twice Dean of the Faculty of Law (1970-74 and 1978-82), Mr Glover also gave generously of his time institutionally - serving on the Senate and a variety of other committees - and nationally.  He was an expert on tax law and an active member of the Society of Teachers of Taxation and the Society of Public Teachers of Law.

Mr Glover retired from the University in 1983. He will be remembered by former colleagues and students with affection and respect in equal measure.

Mr Glover is survived by his wife, Margaret, and daughters Alison, Rachel and Eleanor.  The family funeral service will take place on Thursday 26 January 2012, when the flag on the Parkinson Building will be at half-mast in Mr Glover's memory.
