In with the new, out with the old

Green Streets is back! LUU runs this environmental project each year to reduce the number of items that often end up in landfill, focused around the time when students leave their accommodation.

Last year, Green Streets successfully diverted over 21 tonnes of reusable, unwanted items.  Any items that are donated are sorted and given away in a free shop, and will really help new students joining us this semester!

The first one this year will be running on Friday 20 January and we're asking for any donations from staff, such as:

  • sealed, non-perishable food within the use by date
  • stationery
  • cookware (pots pans, utensils etc)
  • crockery and cutlery (please wrap any sharp items in tea towels or newspaper)
  • homeware (picture frames, ornaments, rugs etc)
  • bedding
  • clothes

There is a drop-off point next to helpdesk in LUU for any unwanted goods.
