Mrs Dorothy Metcalf

We are very sorry to let colleagues know of the death of Mrs Dorothy Metcalf, former Technician, who, together with her husband, David, was killed in a car crash on 1 January 2012.

Mrs Metcalf was employed in the Multidiscipline Laboratories in the Faculty of Medicine from 1977 to 1989.   As part of the team responsible for the preparation and running of laboratory classes, including setting up and demonstrating apparatus and equipment to students, she was very highly regarded and well-liked, by dint of both her uncompromisingly high standards and her cheerful and helpful disposition.

Mrs Metcalf left the University in 1989 and subsequently had spells of employment with Rakusen's and the Department of Chemical Pathology at Leeds General Infirmary.  She later returned to the University, being employed as a Technician in the School of Biomedical Sciences between 2001 and 2002.

Mr and Mrs Metcalf are survived by their son Clive, daughter Lindsay and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11.00am on Friday 13 January 2012 at Holy Trinity Church, Green Lane, Cookridge, LS16.   Black need not be worn at the funeral.

On the day of the funeral, the flag is to be flown at half-mast on the Parkinson Building.
