Getting started with Arc1
There’s an addition to the ISS IT training programme, ‘Getting Started with Arc1. The first course will run on Monday 14 November 2011 – 9.30am-4.30pm.
The course is aimed at researchers intending to use the Arc1 facility and is designed for programmers and non-programmers alike, with limited knowledge of using the high performance computing facilities.
Course format:
The course involves explanation, demonstration and hands-on practice.
Prerequisites:
Attendees should have some experience of the Unix operating system, however minimal programming experience is required.
The course will cover:
- Background and overview of available Arc1 resources
- Basic use of the system
- File transfer
- editors
- environment
- Introduction to the software environment
- Using Grid Engine for:
- batch jobs
- interactive sessions
- task arrays
- Parallel job submission
