Book your place at the Research and Innovation Support conference

This year’s Research and Innovation Support Conference on Tuesday 6 December 2011 will offer sessions on everything from relations with industry to supporting fellowship applications.

The conference theme is Shaping the Research and Innovation Landscape. The context for research and innovation is changing with an increased emphasis on research concentration, critical mass, focus on impact underpinned by distinctive world-leading research, collaboration (rather than competition) and value for money.  At Leeds the shape of support in the area has changed with the establishment of Research and Innovation Services.

Held at Weetwood Hall, the conference has nine break-out sessions covering topics such as:

  • the role of impact in shaping strategic agendas
  • supporting fellowship applicants
  • how the Transformation Fund is bringing about a step-change in research activity
  • commercialisation
  • Doctoral Training Centres and studentships
  • equipment sustainability
  • REF2014
  • Horizon 2020
  • relations with industry

The keynote speakers are Dr Alice Frost, Head of Business and Community, HEFCE, and Dr Astrid Wissenberg, Director of Communications and Information, ESRC, and chair of the RCUK Knowledge Transfer and Economic Impact Group.

Please book early to secure your place.  Bookings should be made online (search for RISConference) by 31 October 2011.

Please contact Annette Caplan if you would like any further information about the conference.

From 24 October, the Research Support and Enterprise and Innovation Offices merged to become Research and Innovation Services (RIS).  RIS is located in the Charles Thackrah Building - the RS Offices at 3 Cavendish Road are being vacated.  All telephone numbers will remain the same and Faculty Offices are not affected.
