Power cut on campus

Power has now been restored to all of campus following a major power cut on Friday 30 September.

Message posted at 7pm, Friday 30 September

The buildings affected include the E C Stoner building, the Physics deck, the Clothworkers' Centenary Concert Hall, Music, English, Education, and other buildings on Cavendish Road south of Education.   We do not yet know when the problem will be resolved, but we are confident that all buildings will be open as normal by Monday morning.

Work is under way, however, to restore power to the Concert Hall for the concert there tomorrow evening.   The Catering and Conferencing team are making arrangements to move the conference planned for English tomorrow elsewhere.

Except in the area without power, most IT systems are now working as normal, but SAP and High Performance Computing are unlikely to be functioning until Monday.

The Brotherton Library and the Edward Boyle Library are expected to open as normal over the weekend.

Staff in the Facilities Directorate, ISS and elsewhere are working hard to resolve the remaining problems and to reduce the impact on staff and students.   Updates will be published on the intranet.

Any concerns about health and safety or security - or any other urgent - should be reported in the first instance to Security on 0113 343 5494/5.   (For emergencies - and only emergencies - telephone 0113 343 2222.)
