Academic staff and research students not already using it may be interested in ResearchGate, an online professional network and resource for researchers.
ResearchGate is free to use and carries no advertising. Within the network, members can upload both successful and unsuccessful research papers, search through 40 million abstracts and tens of thousands of full texts, and easily download a number of full texts from across 7 major scientific databases, including PubMed, IEEE and Citeseer.
Many researchers use ResearchGate to ask questions within topic specific discussion groups, or even create groups based on their own research, interacting with others who are doing similar work worldwide. Members can also find out about relevant conferences.
