Professor Steve Homans
Professor Steve Homans, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, will be leaving the University at the end of this calendar year.
Professor Homans has accepted the position of Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Science, Agriculture and Engineering at Newcastle University, and will take up his new role in January 2012.
"This has not been an easy decision, but given the enormous challenges and upheaval in FBS in recent years, I believe the future of the Faculty will be best served with a substantially new management team that can drive us forward afresh," said Professor Homans. "The Vice-Chancellor has asked me to continue as Dean until I depart - I am happy and honoured to do so, and I look forward to working with you all for the remainder of my tenure at Leeds."
