Committee report on student visa policy published

The Home Affairs Select Committee has highlighted concerns over the government’s policy on student visas, warning that it could cost the economy £3.4 billion.

In its final report on student visas, the Committee criticised the fact that a policy impact assessment, which revealed the potential cost to the economy, was published 12 weeks after the policy was announced.

The Russell Group welcomed the Committee's emphasis on the economic benefits of international students to the UK economy.

For more information about the impact assessment and the Committee's concerns, see the Committee's website.
