Emeritus Professor Margaret B Sutherland

Members will be sorry to learn of the death, on 29 March 2011, of Emeritus Professor Margaret Sutherland.

Professor Sutherland came to Leeds in January 1973 from Queen's University, Belfast, to take up a Chair in Education and the headship of the Department of Education.  She was Chair of the School of Education (1975-76), Dean of the Faculty (1976-78) and Chair of the Board of the Faculty of Education (1978-80).  Professor Sutherland retired from the University in 1985 when the title and status of Emeritus Professor was conferred upon her.

The funeral will take place at 11.45am on Friday 8 April 2011 in St Giles Chapel, Linn Crematorium, Lainshaw Drive, Glasgow, G45 9SP (family flowers only, please).   Refreshments afterwards will be at the Carnbooth House Hotel (80 Busby Road, Carmunnock, Glasgow G76 9EG - 5 minutes from the Linn).
