End of term concerts
This week sees the last concerts in the Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall before the Easter break, and there is a feast of music on offer from today until Friday.
The programme this week is one of contrasts:
Wednesday 30 March, 6pm - Student Showcase
Another opportunity to hear performances by students from the School of Music. The piano features strongly in a programme including Bach's second Partita, music from Prokoviev's Romeo and Juliet suite, and settings of Ondine by Ravel and Debussy.
Thursday 31 March, 6pm - Afro-Colombian Ensemble
Hear music with its roots in West Africa blended with Spanish and Criollo song and poetry from Colombia's Caribbean coast. The ensemble play hand-made Colombian instruments and is led by Ian Middleton.
Friday 1 April, 1.05pm - Music for Two Pianos III
Ian Buckle and Richard Casey perform a lively programme including Gershwin's An American in Paris, Piers Hellawell's Victory Boogie-Woogie, and John Adams' Hallelujah Junction.
All the concerts are free.
