1000 origami cranes for Japan

Students and staff are coming together to show support for the people of Japan and to raise money for the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal.

The Japanese Society and the International Student Office are holding a "1000 origami cranes for Japan" event:

On:      Monday 28 March

At:       3.30 - 7.30pm

In:       The Global Cafe, LUU Lounge and Treehouse

For a minimum donation of £2.00 you can learn how to make an origami crane, learn about Japanese culture, and enjoy free tea, coffee and biscuits in the cafe.

An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury.  When 1000 cranes are created, they are put onto strings to create a beautiful display.  Our 1000 origami cranes will be displayed within the University to show our support for the people of Japan.

All donations will be given to the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal.

You can of course donate more than £2.00!
