Fairtrade Fortnight

We are showing our support again for Fairtrade Fortnight, which this year runs from 28 February to 13 March.

Last year was the most successful Fairtrade Fortnight ever, resulting in 11.5 million people going on to buy a Fairtrade product having seen or heard about the campaign. We are supporting Fairtrade Fortnight again this year with a number of activities around the campus, including:

Fairtrade and Vintage Fashion Show, Monday 7 March, 7-10pm

Taking place in Mine in the Leeds University Union, the fashion show will feature:

  • a live band Stan SB
  • fairtrade clothing from Shared Earth, Neema Crafts, Bishopston Trading, Third Estate, From the Source, By Hand and Gear
  • raffle with fairtrade prizes
  • fairtrade nibbles
  • best vintage outfit competition

Tickets are £2 in advance or £2.50 on the door. Advance tickets will be available in:
- Parkinson Court from now until Friday 4 March
- Union foyer on Friday 4 March

Fairtrade Fair, Tuesday 8 March, 11am-4pm

There will be a range of stalls at the fair, to be held in the Parkinson Court, selling all types of fairtrade products, including chocolate, jewellery, and crafts. There will be a lucky dip, and free tastings of Ben & Jerry's fairtrade ice-cream, fairtrade Sangria, and chocolate cake.

There will also be a chance to use your artistic flair to help Fairtrade make the longest piece of bunting in the world.
