Dr Iain Smith
Members will be sorry to learn of the death, on 22 February 2011, of Dr Iain James Smith, former Senior Lecturer in Health Services Research and Honorary Consultant in Child Health.
Dr Smith's Funeral Service will be held at 11.00am on Thursday 3rd March at the Providence Chapel of Rest, Huddersfield Road, Elland, HX5 9DW. This will be followed by a green burial.
Dr Smith qualified in medical education at the University of Edinburgh in 1974. He joined the University in 1980 as a Lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health from the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, where he had been a Medical Paediatric Registrar. In 1993 Iain was appointed to the post of Senior Lecturer in Health Services Research and Honorary Consultant in Child Health in the Nuffield Institute for Health (University of Leeds). He retired from the Nuffield Institute in August 2006 through ill health.
