Leeds appointments to Research Excellence Framework panels

Leeds will be well-represented on the Research Excellence Framework (REF) sub-panels, or Units of Assessment (UoAs), involved in the 2014 assessment.

HEFCE announced the UoA appointments on 21 February: see the full list of Leeds staff appointed.

The role of the UoAs includes:

  • consulting on working methods and assessment criteria specific to their UoA
  • assessing research submissions
  • drafting assessment outcomes and recommending them to the main REF panels

They are expected to publish the draft assessment criteria for consultation by mid-2011, and the final version in early 2012.
