Valedictory symposium for Professor Duncan Mara

A Valedictory Symposium and Dinner are being held on 13 January to celebrate the work and achievements of Professor Duncan Mara, who retired from the School of Civil Engineering in September.

The theme of the symposium will be The Global Public Health Crisis, and it will follow the format of a Royal Society discussion with ample time for contributions from the floor. The speakers - who include Professor Sir Richard Feachem and Dr Graham Alabaster - come from international health, water, sanitation and engineering biology, and represent different strands of Professor Mara's career and legacy. The symposium will take place in the School of Civil Engineering, Lecture Theatre A.

The venue for dinner is Weetwood Hall. After dinner speakers will include Professor Duncan Mara and Professor Nigel Smith, Head of School of Civil Engineering.

There is no charge for attendance at the symposium and tickets for the dinner are £40 per head, payable in advance. Places for both are limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
