Equality data collection

The University has launched an equality data collection exercise that all colleagues are encouraged to complete.

The majority of staff will receive an email, which will redirect them to a webpage where they can complete their equality profile. Staff who do not have access to email, will receive a paper form and envelope to complete and return to HR, managed through local line management structures.

This exercise is being carried out as a consequence of a significant amount of missing data on equality; we are legally required to collect, monitor and report on this data under the Equality Act 2010.  The University wants complete data to monitor how its policies and practices eg, around recruitment and promotion, are operating to ensure that there are no barriers to equal treatment.  Where we identify barriers, we can take action to address them.

Staff do have the opportunity to state that they do not wish to disclose information, but it is crucial that staff chose not to disclose as opposed to not complete the form at all.

At the start of the new year, we will be carrying out a follow-up exercise to collate any data that has not been returned through managers and/or directly with individuals.

Please contact Sarah Hubbard if you have any questions about the process on 33779 or e-mail s.hubbard@adm.leeds.ac.uk
